Ridiculously racist pin sold at GOP convention

This pin was being sold at the GOP state convention in Texas this week

Despite all the "terrorist fist jabs" and "baby mamas" FOX News has thrown at Obama and, by association, all of his supporters and every African-American in the country, I didn't really think something like this would be possible at an official Republican Party event.

The misanthropes responsible for this poorly capitalized garbage is RepublicanMarket, a site not officially tied to the GOP, that produces other such one-line gems as: "Guns don't kill people... Abortion clinics do." Regardless of its association to the official party, the Obama/White House pin is only indicative of how blinding racism still is in so many parts of the country.

I suppose I knew this was coming, this racist onslaught. But to hear that the man responsible for the buttons thought the line was humorous and not at all racist is deeply troubling. I'd be curious, too, to find out how many of these buttons were actually purchased by convention-goers. I guess we'll have to wait for them to turn up on eBay, right next to other similarly creepy ware such as Goebbels' shaving kit.

Here was my contribution to the news hype created by the surfacing of this story. Supposedly, these buttons have actually been around for 2-3 weeks now, but only received widespread attention when they appeared at the Texas GOP Convention.
