Phillip and I went on a camping road trip to Big Sur this weekend. It should be noted that your intrepid adventurers were set for and expecting torrential rain, but as soon as we reached the northernmost tip of the Big Sur coastline, the clouds parted and we were greeted with temperate, beautiful weather.
We found a nice campground by a stream, where I promptly took a nap, only to be woken by hooting airborne wild turkey. That evening and night, we spent hours in the forest captivated by the sights and sounds of the foliage, geology, and incredible star-studded sky. After a rather harrowing effort to light a fire in a very damp pit, we finally succeeded with the help of a Good Samaritan camping nearby, and had dinner by the fire's glow.
Following a lazy Sunday morning, we leisurely—due to the unfortunate use of a spare tire—drove up the Pacific Coast Highway. We stopped at various cliff lookouts and at a beach where the seaweed we played around in was so large it must have washed up from the deepest abyss in the ocean. After imbibing shellfish and crème brûlée in Monterey, we went antiquing for assorted tchotchkes before making our way back to San Francisco—
